• Shrink your travel pack as much as possible. There are many ideas online on how to reduce the size and weight of your luggage. Some favorite examples of mine include:

• When flying without checked bags, check skiplagged for cheap hidden flight fares
• Download offline maps to your phone with Google Maps or OSMAnd. Even if you have an international cell plan, coverage can be sparse when you go sightseeing in nature.
• Words to learn in any language for daily tasks: yes, no, hello, please, thank you, Do you speak X language, I don’t speak XYZ language, numbers 1-10
